This weekend at St. Anne's is called "Service Sunday." It is a time when all parishioners are asked to consider participating in one of the Church's ministries as a volunteer.
Volunteer opportunities range from once a year (Parish Barbeque), to 3-4 times a school-year serving coffee and baked goods between masses (Hospitality Committee), to 2-3 Friday mornings a month getting the Chapel ready for Liturgies (Beautification Committee), to several times a year at times we are already in mass (Eucharistic Ministers, Acolytes, Readers, one of two Choirs, Ushers, & Greeters), to every school-session Sunday (Sunday School / CCD Teachers).
The sign-up sheets will be in the back of the Church after Mass.
Please reference the separate sheet accompanying this week's Bulletin that speaks more in detail about each Ministry that is seeking volunteers.
Dear Lectors,
Father Cuff has designated 2 September as Service Sunday. On that day, there will be sign-ups for the lector ministry.
I encourage you to sign up and if there are other family members including teenage children who might be interested, please encourage them to sign up too! Occasionally, we receive comments from visitors who remarked that the Proclaimed Word is of high quality in St Anne's.
Of course, there is room for improvement. We will arrange lector training sessions for everyone, new and old, to improve their reading skills in October. You will have a chance to practice reading and given feedback, and we will invite people who read well to demonstrate for us.
To give you a taste of how to improve your reading, take a look at the Simple Suggestions for Reading Well attachment. The most important of all the points though is to PREPARE, PREPARE and PREPARE.
Finally, the September schedule is attached. If you cannot make your allotted time, please arrange for someone to replace you.
Thank you very much and God Bless!
Vivian

The aim of the music ministry is to offer music as a form of worship and prayer for all parishioners, as well as for choir members ourselves. If you like music, you will enjoy being a part of this ministry. There are several groups/times to choose from - Saturday evening 6pm, 8:45 Sunday, 11:15 Sunday, Filipino Choir, and Legion of Mary Choir. Rehearsals generally take place one hour before mass. We welcome all vocalists and instrumentalists, including children and teenagers, and we especially need more keyboard and guitar accompanists. Taizé, the community known for their meditative chants, will be holding its International Youth Meeting in Hong Kong from Wednesday 8th to Sunday 12th August. The meeting is entitled Pilgrimage of Trust and Reconciliation.
Young people from 18-35, sometimes in groups, will descend on Hong Kong from afar. They are coming for 5 days of praying with songs, workshops and a silent retreat. Every day in the morning, there will be meetings in churches of different denominations. The midday and evening prayers will be in either the Catholic Cathedral or St John's Cathedral (Anglican).
Taizé Hong Kong is looking for families to host these young people. Each person will bring a sleeping bag and all a family needs to offer is space and breakfast every morning. A bed is welcomed but not necessary. A host family may host one person, or more. The diocese is hoping that St Anne's can host 15 people.
If interested, please sign up at this link - https://goo.gl/v9k8jy
The Taizé Community is a world famous Christian ecumenical monastic community located in Taizé, Burgundy, France. It is composed of more than 100 brothers, Catholic and Protestant, from many countries in the world. Taizé focus in on young people, and engages them with week-long meetings of Bible study, prayers, and songs throughout the year. It is particularly popular for groups of young people to make a pilgrimage there during the summer.
The St. Anne's Filipino Community will again host the traditional May Crowning in honor of our Blessed Virgin Mary, the High Queen of Heaven and the Queen of May. In this regard, we would like to invite all parishioners to join us in this pious activity. It will be held on May 27th at St. Anne's Church. The assembly time is 1:30 pm and the procession will start at exactly 2:00 pm followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary, singing Marian songs, flower offering and the crowning of our Blessed Lady. We will be reciting two mysteries wherein we will be making the petitions for PEACE and UNITY for the whole world.
If there are children boys and girls who want to dress up as angels and join in this activity, please contact Lorenda Rafanan in advance so that we can provide the appropriate attire for them. We are in need of an Altar Server Ministry Coordinator beginning in late August 2018. The position requires only a small time commitment, but is a very important to St. Anne's.
All you need is a computer (very basic computer skills), a couple of hours a month and a desire to serve your parish. All of the work is done via email with the exception of a 1.5 hour new acolyte training session in September.
The training session is attended by Fr. Cuff and run by experienced Acolytes with the Coordinator's assistance.
We have a lovely group of children and adults who form this ministry, most of whom are very experienced. The Coordinator position is predominantly of an administrative nature and very easily mastered. Thank you very much for considering taking on this ministry.
Please contact Moka Quinlan at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions regarding the position.
The Catholic Women's League is here to sell Raffle Tickets for their Annual Fundraising.
All proceeds will go their charity works for the less fortunate ones, the students and the elderly.
Please support them with your generosity by buying ticket or cash donation.
Thank you.
We are RECRUITING SINGERS for Confirmation on May 12th at 10am and First Holy Communion on May 19th at 10:30am.

Let's come together to sing at these joyous occasions for the youth of our parish.
